The Bakul Foundation, which has started a campaign to instill the habit of planting trees among people in consideration of the effects of global warming, is the initiative behind the innovative Santa gift.
Sudip Mahapatra of the Bakul Foundation, a volunteerism movement, claims that for a number of years, the organization has been raising public awareness of global warming and its detrimental effects while concentrating on climate change.
“Santa Claus and gifts are synonymous. So we thought why not gift plants to people visiting the church at Satyanagar in Bhubaneswar. Gifting plants will help to instill the habit of growing trees among the people and ensure that the environment is cleaner and greener. We have been gifting trees on various occasions, including marriages, birthdays, and social functions. We hope our initiative will help people realise the threats of global warming,” Mahapatra said.
