Bharat Biotech’s ‘Covaxin’ will be produced in Odisha

Good news for the people of Odisha. The Covaxin will be produced in Odisha. Bharat Biotech, the vaccine manufacturer, has made all kinds of preparations. At Andharua, Bharat Biotech has started work on a biotech producer unit. The state government has provided all the facilities for the pharma industry. Bharat biotech unit is expected to start production in the next year.

In the initial phase, the company has decided to invest Rs 300 crore to Rs 500 crore. Following the construction, the company has announced that it will launch a series of anti-virus and anti-bacterial vaccines in Odisha.

A few days ago, the central government approved Bharat Biotech’s Covid 19 vaccine “Covaxin”.

In view of the needs of the people, the state government has stepped up its efforts to produce corona vaccines in Odisha. That is why the state government has taken the lead in setting up a state-of-the-art manufacturing center in Andharua a suburb of the capital. In November, former Chief Secretary Asit Tripathi instructed the company to set up an incubator and develop startups. Idco chairman Sanjay Singh, on the other hand, has identified a land in Biotech Park in Andharua.

Notably, the company has developed and manufactured new or improved diarrhea, malaria, Japanese encephalitis, influenza and anti-drug Staphylococcus (ARS) vaccines. In Andharua, Bhubaneswar, the unit will produce 10 types of vaccines, including Malaria and Covid vaccine.
