Following many meetings with locals in Bhubaneswar, BJP MP Aparajita Saranagi on Monday sent Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik a letter pleading with him to take action on the recommendations made by the citizens for the growth and cleanliness of the State capital.
A 20-point list of recommendations is included in the parliamentarian’s letter, along with calls for a metro train system encompassing the Bhubaneswar-Jatni-Khordha-Cuttack-Choudwar route.
The other points are:
- Renovation of existing water ponds within the city and rural areas of my constituency
- Removal of encroachments from walking tracks in Bhubaneswar city and taking care of gray animals
- Khandagiri needs to he declared as ‘World Heritage Site’. Light & Sound System should be restarted m Khandagiri
- Maintenance of statues of eminent personalities of our State in the city of Bhubaneswar and beyond should be looked into
- All overhead electric wires may he made underground. This will give a beautiful and clean look to the city
- Public toilets with proper maintenance system in Exhibition Ground, Unit-3 & Janata Maidan may be done
- Law & Order maintenance in Bhubaneswar has become an issue of late. Security of women & senior citizens should be given top priority
- Some residents expressed their desire for “Smruti Stambha” of King Kharavel & King Kapilendra Deva in Bhubaneswar. A museum depicting the life & works of King Kharavel should also be contemplated.
- All desired support should be given to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for speedy grounding of Capital Region Ring Road construction work
- Colony Parks with open Gym, wherever possible, should come up in all the left out colonies in Bhubaneswar city
- Comprehensive Drainage Master Plan should be done at the earliest & all steps should be taken for mobilization of resources and subsequent execution. There are many areas which get badly inundated with moderate showers
- Removal of liquor shops from residential areas
- Wall paintings on Odisha Art & Culture should be contemplated under the Khandagiri Flyover area with lighting arrangement
- Development of water body as a water park in the 7.0 Acres fallow land near Bhubaneswar Airport
- A World class Recreation Centre can be conceptualized in Bhubaneswar
- College elections should take place. We need to cultivate & encourage leadership among the young population
- Metro Train System covering Bhubaneswar – Jatni – Khordha – Cuttack – Choudwar should be immediately worked upon in consultation with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India
- As in many places within India & beyond, roof top solar system should be contemplated front Bhubaneswar too
- Rest sheds for labourers who gather at different places in Bhubaneswar should be constructed. It is a disturbing sight when labourers gather under rain & sun in the open area wishing to be picked up by the contractors
- Government & private parking system should be streamlined in such a manner that people do not face inconvenience.
