Amit Malviya of the BJP claimed that Gandhis believed in “use and throw,” which is why the AAP received Ahmed Patel’s Bharuch seat as part of the seat-sharing agreement.Jaiveer Shergill, a BJP spokesperson and former Congress politician, claimed that giving the Aam Aadmi Party control of Gujarat’s Bharuch constituency in the seat-sharing agreement for the 2024 Lok Sabha election is the “Prince’s retaliation,” alluding to the distinction between the late Rahul Gandhi and Ahmed Patel.
When the AAP and Congress announced their seat-sharing agreement, many people took notice and raised their eyebrows because the AAP would be fielding a candidate from Bharuch but the Congress would not. Amit Malviya of the BJP claimed that Rahul Gandhi was trying to destroy Ahmed Patel’s legacy by handing over Bharuch to the AAP.Together, the AAP and Congress will run for the Lok Sabha in Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, and Goa, but not in Punjab. The Congress decided to award the AAP two seats in Gujarat, Bhavnagar and Bharuch. The decision did not sit well with Patel’s son and daughter, as Bharuch is the legacy seat of the late Ahmed Patel.
