A blood donation camp has been organised by Red Swastik Society, Odisha chapter at the Community care centre, Nayapalli in collaboration with Commissionerate Police and Lion’s Club aiming to aid the shortage of blood in thalassemia patients. On this occasion actor Lohitaksh Pattanaik, son of Debasish Pattanaik, secretary and cashier, Red Swastik Society has taken the lifetime membership of the organisation and celebrated his birthday in a unique way by donating blood to the needy.
Addressing this event Lohitaksh expressed his pride and happiness towards helping and being a part of this noble journey. He also said that lots of patients suffering from thalassemia lose their life due to a shortage of blood. Donating blood is also the same as donating life and there is no bigger thing than this noble work. He encouraged and requested the public in order to donate blood and help in removing the issue of blood shortage.
Other dignitaries such as Dr Debasish Mishra, director of the blood bank at Capital Hospital, Shri Bijay Acharya, Chairman of Red Swastik Society, Kunal Kishore Das, President of Lion’s Club, Nayapalli were also present at this event. Along with them the members of Lion’s Club, social worker Gagan Kumar Paital, member of Red Swastik Society Sagar Mishra and others were also presented and praised Lohitaksh for his thoughts and practices at this early age. Lohitaksh also joined himself in the special group club 18 created for blood donation. Collected blood units were donated for children suffering from thalassemia.
