BMC Bags Two Awards In Swachh Sarvekshan Under Swachh Bharat Mission

Securing two awards in the sanitation field gave the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) yet another feather in its cap. Two Swachh Sarvekshan awards under the Swachha Bharat Mission program have been given to the civic body. The Central Government hosted a special ceremony in New Delhi today to present the award.

The honor was given to BMC Mayor Honorable Mayor Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kaher, Standing Committee Chairman Birchi Narayan Mahasupkar, and Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange on this occasion by Manoj Joshi, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Government of India.

According to the 2023 cleanliness survey, Bhubaneswar is the cleanest city in Odisha. In the state, only Bhubaneswar holds this distinction. The award is granted based on a regular comparative evaluation of survey teams’ work, field visits, and the hygienic habits of citizens and inhabitants in cities with a population of one lakh or more.

BMC has bagged three stars in Garbage Free City Award. On a global scale, though, it now occupies position 34. The remarkable evolution and shift in Bhubaneswar’s cleanliness over the past few years is evident throughout the entire city. Bhubaneswar was ranked 80 last year. This time, it reached 34 and demonstrated its exceptional cleanliness.
