The New Generation AKASH (AKASH-NG) missile’s successful flight test on Friday marked a noteworthy accomplishment for the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO). The test, which was conducted at 10:30 AM from the Chandipur, Odisha, Integrated Test Range, was aimed at a very low-altitude, high-speed unmanned aerial target. During the flight test, the weapon system successfully destroyed the target by intercepting it with amazing precision.
The DRDO’s ongoing efforts to strengthen India’s domestic defense capabilities are demonstrated by the successful testing of the AKASH-NG missile. The entire weapon system, which includes the missile with the locally developed Radio Frequency Seeker, Launcher, Multi-Function Radar, and Command, Control, and Communication system, has been verified to be operational.
This achievement highlights the DRDO’s commitment to creating cutting-edge missile systems that can successfully handle modern security challenges, as well as the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in defense technology. The AKASH-NG’s adaptability and readiness to meet changing defense requirements are demonstrated by its ability to intercept fast-moving targets at extremely low altitudes.
