After 34 years, the National Education Policy 2020 was announced on 29th July 2020. But Centurion University of Technology & Management in Odisha was much ahead of time as the features in new Education policy was already included by CUTM.
Centurion University is a private and reputed university which was established by Centurion University of Technology and Management Act, Odisha 2010. The main campus is at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district, another college at Jatni, on the borders of Bhubaneswar.
The university has been certified by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade, becoming the youngest private university to have received the distinction. In 2016, the Bhubaneswar campus was listed 81 among the institutions granting engineering education in India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under the NIRF.
The university provides PG, UG and doctoral courses in the field of engineering & technology, agricultural sciences, architecture planning and design, mining, teachers’ education, media and communication, paramedics and Allied Health Sciences, pharmacy and life sciences, management, applied sciences and numerous vocational jobs in its two major campuses.
There were several points which were added in the new Educational Policy 2020, giving a new prospect in the Education system. Aspects like Constitutional campus in remote areas, integrating conventional and vocational education, multiple pathways, entry-exit points etc.
We were already included in Centurion University way back in 2010 when the inception was held at that time. Apart from these points, one new initiative has been added up that is the International tie-up with the Skyline University in Nigeria.
This set-up means as a part of their yearly course in their campus where students can have their internship, skill programmes and research, faculty development which will help them to gain sill certificate. Centurion University also signed an MOU with New Zealand and UP Education for a pathway programme.
Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic, all the educational institutions and schools are shut down until further notice. But despite these difficulties, the CUTM was among the first university in the country to complete end-semester exams via online and also started the new semester session from 13th July.
