On the occasion of holy Akshay Tritiya, the annual inaugural rituals for the construction of chariots of Shree Balaram Jew held at Ratha Gada in Dhenkanal. According to tradition, every year on the day of Akshay Tritiya, a ceremonial puja is conducted which marked the beginning of Chariots constructions by the Carpenters for the annual Ratha Yatra. This year the Yatra falls on July 12, 2021.
After the Mangal Arati, the Agyan Mala ( garland of consent) was brought from from the Balaram Jew Temple by the servitor’s after which a puja was observed in the Ratha Gada which kick-started the construction of the Chariots for upcoming Ratha Yatra.
