Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched many welfare development programs and inaugurated them for the benefit of SC and ST students at Berhampur, Sambalpur, and Rourkela. Around Rs 101 crore scholarships have been sanctioned under the 5T initiative of the State Government.
According to the report, Chief Minister Patnaik sanctioned Rs 101 crore scholarships through which 50,000 students received the money in their bank accounts. CM stated that the deposited amount is given towards the post-matric scholarship in their bank accounts for around 50,000 SC and ST.
Three Akanshya hostels and 68 hostels which are constructed for Rs 150 crore were inaugurated by CM Patnaik and 5.75 lakh ‘Mo Chhatrabas’ (My Hostel) cards were gifted during the inaugural session. Besides, he also started the ‘Sanhati Programme’ which will enable around 1.5 lakh students to avail primary education in their mother tongue.
The event was organized via video conferencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
CM Patnaik talked about the importance of education which is the basis of reformation. Literacy is crucial for the development of SCs and STs in Odisha and the state government has always focussed on the education for which the ST and SC have been able to excel in different fields.
He further informed that students can avail themselves of the post-matric scholarship through Odisha State Scholarship Portal. While launching the employment-based skill development program Prayas for SC, ST, and OBC students he also stated that it is a major initiative taken up by the government and this Prayas scheme will benefit 7,500 students.
Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Development Commissioner PK Jena, and senior officials were present during the inaugural session.
