Chief Secretary of Odisha Encourages CAMPA to Study Forest Cover Mapping Using Drone Technology

The State Level Steering Committee of the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management & Planning Authority (CAMPA) has been advised by Chief Secretary PK Jena to employ drone technology to examine forest cover mapping prior to and following plantations, as well as in the years that follow. Jena gave the counsel while presiding over the CAMPA State Level Steering Committee meeting at the Lok Seva Bhawan, according to an official press release.

The Annual Plan of Operation (APO) expenditures and issues for the year 2023–2024 were outlined by PCCF & HOFF Biswal. The meeting also reviewed the APO’s activities and the fund position of the State Authority CAMPA. Thus, the 14th Annual Plan of Operations has been developed and executed, the 15th is currently being implemented, and the 16th series is APO 2024–2025.

As of November 30, 2023, the total cumulative outlay from APO 2021–22, 2022–23, and 2023–24 was 3230.32 crore, of which Rs 3041.17 crore had been approved by the National Authority (CAMPA) and from which Rs 2397.99 crore had been spent. Additionally, it was disclosed that, as of December 31, 2023, expenditures under APO 2023–24 totaled Rs 644.53 crore.

The main initiatives that are implemented are the Ama Jangal Yojana, infrastructure development, forest IT & Geometrics, monitoring and evaluation, silvicultural research, production of QPM, integrated wildlife management program, wildlife management, plantations under NPV, bamboo regeneration, forest protection and forest fire prevention, and compensatory afforestation.
