From November 21–23, 2023, at the Madhusudan Das Regional Institute of Financial Management Odisha, Bhubaneswar, the IMF-SARTTAC, in partnership with the Finance Department, Government of Odisha, and Reserve Bank of India, will host a three-day “Workshop on Cash Management for the Indian States.” Today’s program was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Odisha Pradeep Kumar Jena, who also served as the event’s chief guest.
Principal Secretary for Finance Vishal Dev Director of IMF-SARTTAC in New Delhi, David Cowen IMF-SARTTAC, New Delhi’s Celeste Kubasta and Stephen Turnbull, advisors on public finance management, also attended the event and spoke to the attendees.
The workshop was attended by a select group of people from the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Making sure the government can promptly fund its expenditures and fulfill its obligations when they become due is the goal of cash management. In his speech to the attendees, the Chief Secretary discussed Odisha’s development narrative—which is one of transformation.
He claimed that strict discipline and prudent financial management of the state’s coffers have made this possible.
