Chief Secy PK Jena Launches e-Office In 52 Government Offices

e-Office was launched today at Lokaseba Bhawan by Chief Secretary Pradip Kumar Jena in 52 government offices, including 41 subordinate offices of the Directorate of Fisheries; Startup Odisha; OSIC Ltd; MS Law University; Rajendra University; Odisha Coal & Power Ltd; Animal Disease Research Institute; Veterinary Officers’ Training Institute; Odisha Livestock Resource Development Society; Frozen Semen Bank & Odisha Biological Product Institute. It is important to note that 1016 offices in Odisha have e-Office implemented.

Under the National e-Governance Programme of the Government, e-Office is a Mission Mode Project. The goal of e-Office, which is being developed by the National Informatics Centre and implemented by CMGI in Odisha, is to bring about more effective, efficient, and transparent processes and transactions both within and between government entities. E-Office is designed to be a single, reusable system that unifies disparate systems and functions into a single, transparent framework that will improve accountability, change the ethics and work culture of government, and promote transparency.

The purpose of this software is to integrate disparate tasks within an organization and do away with the need for hard copies to be moved around. The user-friendly and intuitive software is built on web-based platforms and open technologies. After completing the required authentication, the user can access the system using a standard Internet browser like Netscape or Internet Explorer. The user-keyed structured data is stored in a centralized back-end database that powers the entire system. To enable remote office operations, 836 government offices in Odisha have adopted e-Office. Implementing e-Office is part of the General Administration & Public Grievances Department’s 5Ts initiative.
