Civil Aviation Minister Approves Greenfield Airport For Puri

On Monday, May 5, Minister of Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu gave his in-principle permission for the construction of a greenfield airport in Puri, which will greatly improve Odisha’s connectivity and tourism. The news includes clearance for a comparable airport in Kota, Rajasthan, as part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s commitment to increasing aviation connectivity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction.

Every year, millions of visitors and pilgrims flock to Puri, a holy pilgrimage site known for the Lord Jagannath Temple. It is anticipated that the proposed airport will improve direct connection between Puri and large towns, giving religious tourism, regional growth, and Odisha’s overall connectivity a significant boost. The government’s objective of enhancing last-mile air connectivity and ensuring that everyone can travel by air is in line with this progress.

The tenacious efforts of Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla led to the sanctioning of Kota’s airport, a long-standing desire. Serving the Hadoti area and Kota, a significant industrial and educational center, the airport will promote economic development and provide access to important local and international locations. These initiatives represent important turning points in infrastructure development and demonstrate the government’s dedication to inclusive air travel, according to a news statement issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Puri and Kota’s airports have the potential to revolutionize regional connections, stimulate the economy, and improve accessibility for millions of people.
