In recent weeks the spread of the virus has intensified in Odisha and the number of cases has been increasing with a high peak of numbers. Because of the resurgence of the Covid-19, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik advised reactivating all the protocols and makes all the machinery work with attention.
During a high-level review meeting on the Coronavirus situation in Odisha, CM Patnaik while addressing stated that the Odisha Government has been able to successfully control the first wave of the covid-19 despite all the difficult challenges and problems. “We are now battle-hardened and I am sure we will be able to successfully tackle this resurgence of the virus infection. We have to reactivate all our protocols and make the entire machinery work with enthusiasm and vigor,” said CM Patnaik.
He later insisting on enforcement of Covid safety protocols strictly to slow down the spread of the virus ordered the DGP to expand police personnel in large numbers across Odisha in a 10-day drive to strictly implement the Covid Safety protocols as mentioned.
Talking about the current situation of the Covid CM stated that the virus spread seems to be largely contemplated in the districts which are adjoined to the Chhattisgarh border. He also urged the Chief Secretary, ACS Health and Family Welfare, and senior officials to visit the western Odisha districts with a high incidence of the Covid positive cases and make an on the ground assessment and take suitable urgent action.
Odisha CM also directed the Health Department to immediately redeploy doctors, paramedics, lab technicians, etc. to western Odisha districts to strengthen the manpower required to fight the virus. The I&PR department was also directed by the CM to start a new awareness campaign to sensitize the citizens to follow norms of face mask, hand hygiene, and social distancing.
Sufficient hospital capacity along with adequate ambulances with oxygen supply should be there for any emergency situation. Proper monitoring systems should be put in place to ensure that any emergency call is addressed timely and with a sense of urgency and sensitivity.
Lastly, he appealed to all the people of Odisha to be on high alert and requested them to follow all the Covid norms and guidelines properly. He also asked the people to cooperate with enforcement machinery and urged them to tackle this situation altogether.
