CMC, with the support of JICA has engaged 30 cluster coordinators and other experts to coordinate and monitor the sanitation scenario and also to help in providing sewerage and water connections for the households. For this a three-day training program on solid waste management and facilitation of household sewer and water connections in Cuttack city began on 20th.
The focus was on various municipal corporation components, project specifics, targets, gaps, and challenges. These cluster coordinators are in charge of overseeing the overall work of the Wards, which includes monitoring the wards in Cuttack Municipal Corporation and coordinating with different departments to resolve all issues related to solid waste management, household water connections and household sewerage connection (JICA – Odisha Integrated Sanitation Improvement Project).
During the training programme, Shri Subhash Chandra Singh, Mayor of CMC, and Shri Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, Commissioner of CMC, addressed the cluster coordinators and expressed their perspectives on the many areas of solid waste management and its significance. The cluster coordinators will also participate in field trips as part of this training session for a hands-on approach.
