FEATURE: The Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, a premier investment summit, witnessed a historic moment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the pavilion of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL). The event, held in Bhubaneswar on January 28-29, was a demonstration of India’s commitment to industrial growth and sustainable mining practices.
Accompanying the Prime Minister were Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, and Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha. They were welcomed by CIL Chairman, Shri P.M. Prasad, and MCL CMD, Shri Uday Anant Kaole, who showcased the company’s contributions toward India’s energy security and people-centric initiatives in Odisha.
MCL, a powerhouse in the coal sector, produces over 200 million tonnes of coal annually and plays a crucial role in the socio-economic development of Odisha. Beyond the conclave, Shri P.M. Prasad, Chairman of Coal India Limited, had the distinct honor of attending a special luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for H.E. Mr. Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia. This high-profile gathering underscored the deepening economic ties between India and Indonesia, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
At the India-Indonesia CEO Forum, Shri Prasad shared insights on the evolving energy landscape, emphasizing the transition towards cleaner energy solutions. As a leader in India’s coal industry, his participation marked a strategic push towards balancing fossil fuel reliance with sustainability goals.
