Done, dusted, goodbye! That’s what many people feel about critical thinking and creativity in an era where AI is increasingly taking over and shaping our lives. Will this sound the death knell for creative ideation and pursuits?
Humankind isn’t one to back down and there will be tens and thousands of people who think differently and can be more empathetic than machines. But let’s hold our horses before we believe we have one up against technology.
Remember that technology was created, tweaked and tampered with by us. That’s correct. You, me, and one extra layer of coders and tech experts who wanted technology to come into our lives and bring an element of convenience for a few tasks. What started with the internet and went on with the ‘personal computer’, now makes lives a tad miserable, yet gives us the feeling of being in control.
In this entire mix, we need to talk about creativity. The internet and the computer made us believe that life can be interconnected, yet we never paid heed to the fact of how long we want to be part of the always-on life! We took creative paths and turned life upside down, with the hope that every creative idea, code and product would solve issues. However, the issue we didn’t take a deep look into was: Do people want it to last?
Some would nod, while others are perplexed. Social media came into our lives and left an intrusive mark on our lives. And now with AI, we aren’t equipped to define right from the ills around us.
Returning to our idea of creativity, we will definitely not fall flat, yet we must be wary about overusing AI and keeping some guardrails for sanity checks. Creativity won’t be fenestrated until we give it the label of dissent. Valuing ideas and opinions is essential, allowing people to think critically is important, yet falling prey to intelligence which can be seemingly right is concerning.
For all the conversations we might have with people, the crux is that AI could pick on the elementary tasks, showcase agentic behavior, and automate elements for our convenience, however, I must iterate that use it to define a structure for your tasks and as an assistant that empowers you.
There’s a difference between allyship and being totally dependent. Let AI infuse more creative instincts within you, through references, possible outcomes, and tech support, while you enter unknown realms of thinking and enlightening yourself.
A hospitable alliance is possible, where your experience and thought process can be leveraged with the assistive features of AI.
We all need a facelift at times, however, learning and self-implementation are key for you to rise ahead and bring transformation. Just realize, AI is around, it’s a tech to assist, elevate and help you find newer peaks to scale.
Think critically, create with vision, and let your purpose define your decades ahead. Create amazing and long-lasting experiences.
