In an effort to reduce noise pollution, the district administration in Cuttack on Sunday declared that DJ usage during the Durga Puja idol immersion procession will be prohibited. The police did clarify, though, that cultural events can last until midnight and sound boxes can be played quietly. There can be no more than six sound boxes within 65 dB of each other.
Following a meeting with the Cuttack Mahanagar Purbanchala Shanti Committee, Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda made an announcement to the media.
Panda went on to say that anyone found forcing people to collect donations for Durga Puja will face harsh consequences.
