ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has named Debabrata Dash as the new head of Human Resources for its Eastern India operations. Dash joins from MSPL, where he served as the Group Vice President of HR and Administration for three and a half years. With a PhD in Human Resource Management from Utkal University and a post-graduate degree in HR Management and Personnel Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, Dash brings a wealth of academic expertise to his new role. He commenced his career as an executive at BILT in 1995 and later transitioned to Odisha Hydropower, where he served as Assistant Manager for the Rengali Hydro Electric Project.
Next, he moved to National Aluminium Company (NALCO) in 1999, starting as an assistant manager in HR. During his tenure, he effectively managed grievance handling, implemented E-Helpline and E-PMS systems, established employee communication platforms, conducted competency mapping, and provided mentoring. From 2007 to 2009, he served as the human resources development manager at ITC, located in Kolkata.
For nearly three years, he excelled in talent management, focusing on creating assessment and development centers, implementing tailored programs for skill enhancement, and overseeing SAP – HR integration. In December 2009, he returned to Orissa to assume the position of Assistant General Manager in Human Resources at Jindal Stainless. However, this assignment was brief, lasting less than a year.In February 2021, Debabrata Dash moved to Karnataka after assuming the role of group VP (HR and admin) at MSPL. With nearly thirty years of experience supporting him, HRKatha believes that Debabrata Dash will be a valuable addition to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India.
