New York’s LaGuardia Airport witnessed a collision between two Delta Air Lines planes on Wednesday evening, leaving at least one person injured.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 9:56 p.m. when a Delta regional jet, taxiing toward a gate, struck another Delta aircraft that had just landed. Air traffic control (ATC) audio revealed that the regional jet’s wing hit the nose of the other plane, causing part of its wing to detach.
Preliminary information identified the aircraft involved as Delta Flights DL5047 and DL5155. Both planes were moving at low speeds when the crash occurred.
Video footage of the aftermath quickly surfaced online, showing visible damage to one of the jets.
LaGuardia, New York City’s second-busiest airport after JFK International, primarily serves domestic flights.
