The ongoing indefinite protest by Odisha drivers on Thursday caused a commotion in the assembly of that state thanks to opposition BJP and Congress lawmakers. The House had a number of adjournments.Bus, truck, and taxi drivers from all around the state have been on an indefinite “stop steering” strike since Wednesday under the leadership of Driver Ekata Manch.A pension after age 60, death benefits, life insurance, social security, parking, and restroom facilities are among the demands of the irate drivers. Congress leader Narasingha Mishra brought up the drivers’ strike during the zero hour, claiming that the drivers’ protest had caused transport services to halt throughout the state. They don’t have a formal organisation and make between Rs 6,000 and Rs 15,000 per month, which is not enough to support a family. He said that the government ought to pay attention to them and deal with their issues. Mishra pleaded with the Speaker to instruct the administration to address the problems.Members of the BJP and Congress poured into the Assembly well and caused a commotion, seeking an immediate resolution to their problems because the Speaker had not yet issued a judgement.
