The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided Archana Nag’s hometown on Wednesday after she and her husband, Jagabandhu Chand, were arrested on extortion charges by Khandagiri Police.
Raids were carried out at eight different locations associated with Archana, including her parents’ home in Kesinga, Kalahandi, and her residence in Satya Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
It is worth noting that the ED has opened a case in this matter, and those with ties to Nag are likely to be served with notices. The accused’s bank statements will be verified. The Commissionerate of Police has already provided copies of the FIRs in two cases filed against Nag.
Archana is accused of extorting money from wealthy and powerful people in the state, including politicians, business owners, and film producers.
By blackmailing influential people, the couple allegedly amassed assets worth Rs 30 crore in four years. According to reports, the ED is likely to investigate Nag’s source of income and the reason for the deposits.
