At least 200 job applicants from Odisha fell for a massive employment fraud scheme, which was busted by the Economic Offences Branch. On Monday, the EOW detained two key suspects, Rajkishore Pattnaik of Balasore (now in Bomikhal) and Arun Mohanty of Narasinghapur, Balasore (currently in Nayapalli). They have been charged under IPC Sections 420, 467, 468, 71, and 120-B. The detained individuals will appear before the SDJM, Bhubaneswar court.
Arun Mohanty, Bhawani Shankar Das, and Rajkishore Pattnaik are accused of defrauding Kumudini Sahoo of Bhubaneswar out of Rs. 8.15 lakh in order to secure a government job by displaying forgeries of appointment letters, the logo, and seals of the Government of Odisha. This accusation led to the filing of the case.
accused Rajkishore Pattnaik promised her a government position as a clerk at Raj Bhawan with a salary of Rs 34,000 per month in exchange for a payment of Rs 6 lakh. She gave an advance of about Rs 2 lakh, but after Rajkishore Pattnaik received the money, he began to avoid her. She then interacted with Bhawani Shankar Das and accused Arun Mohanty.
Accused Arun Mohanty promised to provide her a job within a week and asked for Rs. 7 lakh in exchange. She paid the sum, but she was unable to find employment. In addition, the con artists defrauded Sushant Kumar Muduli of Rs. 1.05 lakh for the position of school peon, Deepak Kumar Nayak of Rs. 4.50 lakh for the position of peon at the Khordha Collectorate, and Dipu Biswal of Rs. 2 lakh for the position of peon in the Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.
During investigation so far, it was revealed that these Thugs have duped hundreds of job aspirants of Odisha showing them forged/fabricated Government letters/ Logo/ Seal/ selection list etc.
Along with hundreds of resumes, bios, mark sheets, application forms, and fake appointment letters of candidates for different posts like peon, clerk, fire man, security, etc. in different departments of the government of Odisha like Raj Bhawan, Education Department, Energy Department, hundreds of incriminating forged documents, including – Government appointment letters, joining letters, and seals of Lok Seva Bhawan and Secretariat – have also been found during searches of the homes of both scammers.
