Palghar (Maharashtra): Four workers died and two others were critically injured after inhaling nitrogen gas that leaked at a pharmaceutical company in the Tarapur-Boisar industrial area of Palghar district on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The incident took place between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm at Medley Pharma, located around 130 km from Mumbai. According to Vivekanand Kadam, chief of Palghar district disaster management cell, six workers were rushed to a hospital after being exposed to the gas.
“Four workers succumbed around 6:15 pm, while two others remain in the intensive care unit and are undergoing treatment,” Kadam confirmed.
Emergency response teams were pressed into action immediately after the leak was reported, and the affected unit has since been secured. Authorities are probing the cause of the leak.
