The GeM Conclave was successfully held in Bhubaneswar on July 29, 2023, as part of a large effort to promote the participation of micro and small businesses based in Odisha in government procurement.
A number of distinguished dignitaries attended the event, including Sh. Prashant Kumar Singh, CEO-GeM, Sh. Saswat Mishra, Principal Secretary, MSME, Government of Odisha, Ms. Poma Tudu, MD, Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited, Government of Odisha, Sh. Y. Koyal, IG (Provision), Odisha Police, and representatives from the National Health Mission, Finance Department, Skill Development Department, and Od Sh. Saswat Mishra, Principal Secretary, MSME, Government of Odisha, served as the event’s chief guest.
The Secretary of Utkal Chamber of Commerce, representatives from WTC, the Secretary General of Odisha Assembly of Small & Medium Enterprises, and the President of Odisha Small Scale Industries Association (OSSIA) participated in the signing of MoUs with GeM, which was a historic step towards fostering an enabling environment for domestic businesses and promoting entrepreneurship in Odisha.The CEO of GeM spoke to the group and emphasised the platform’s efforts to speed up seller onboarding while maintaining efficiency, inclusivity, and transparency in tender participation. He commended the consistent support of the Finance Department, MSME Department, and other State Departments in making GeM their preferred public procurement portal and praised the accomplishments of Odisha-based MSEs (Micro and Small Enterprises).
Over 100 MSEs were successfully onboarded for free on the GeM platform during the conclave. Additionally, MSEs received training from Sh. Sudhansu Pradhan, the Business Facilitator for GeM in Odisha, who gave them advice on how to offer their products and services via the GeM portal.
The GeM Conclave in Bhubaneswar represented a significant advancement in supporting the development of Odisha’s micro and small industries and enhancing their involvement in public procurement.
