The Government of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has congratulated Odisha on meeting the December 2022 target for the operationalization of Health and Wellness Centers (HWC) in the state.
Dr.Brundha D, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Odisha, received the coveted award from Hon’ble Union Minister, Health & Family Welfare, Government of India on the eve of Universal Health Coverage Day celebrations in Varanasi on Sunday on behalf of the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha.
Furthermore, specialist and super specialist consultations are provided via telemedicine (e-Sanjeevani) services through collaboration with District Headquarter Hospitals, Medical Colleges & Hospitals, and other Tertiary level healthcare institutions.
As part of preventive health, HWCs offer yoga classes and other types of wellness activities.
The HWC team, including ASHAs, conducts population-based screening for common NCDs such as hypertension, diabetes, oral, breast, and cervical cancer, as well as other communicable diseases such as leprosy on a regular basis.
