Gujarat school student meets PM Modi after 21 years

When a young Army officer gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi a photo of him and the then-Chief Minister of Gujarat from their meeting in 2001 at the Sainik School where he had attended, it was a particularly touching reunion in Kargil. According to officials, Modi and Major Amit Kumar met at the Sainik School in Balachadi, Gujarat. Soon after becoming the state’s new chief minister in October, Modi paid a visit to the school.

In keeping with his tradition of spending time with military people on this holiday every year since taking office in 2014, the prime minister celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Kargil. He stated: “Our soldiers have been successful in eliminating terrorists in Kargil. I can attest to it. All those antique photos were presented to me when I first arrived here. I can still recall old memories.” In honouring the troops in Kargil, Prime Minister Modi asserted that the Kargil victory flag has always flown in conflicts between India and Pakistan. The jawans that are on duty here are doing a pretty fantastic job.
