Hardik Pandya wins hearts for his fandom again

Hardik Pandya’s outstanding performances in the 2017 T20 World Cup have turned the jeers into applause. Pandya, who received harsh criticism for his lacklustre captaincy and performances during the 2024 Indian Premier League, recovered magnificently in the Indian colours and has so far shown steady improvement with the bat and the ball. With eight wickets in five matches and 89 runs in three innings, including a game-winning half-century against Bangladesh, the star player has lived up to the expectations of an all-rounder. He has also been taking vital wickets for the team.

After hitting an undefeated fifty from twenty-seven balls against Bangladesh, the colourful all-rounder was declared Player of the Match. The only other Indian, besides him, who held onto his wicket after making a solid start. On the final ball, he reached a half-century with a boundary that was adorned with four fours and three sixes.Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, expressed his admiration for Hardik after he shut down his detractors with steady performances.

“No one appeared willing to go over 37. After that, Hardik Pandya. (Virat) Kohli is 37, Rohit (Sharma) is 23, Rishabh Pant is 36, and Shivam Dube is 34. “Those who have been booing Hardik Pandya a lot over the past two to three months are praising him,” Chopra posted on his YouTube channel.
