In response to numerous petitions that complained about the noise at night, the Telangana High Court today ruled that no music could be played in Hyderabad bars after 10 o’clock. On Monday itself, the decree went into effect. After 10 p.m., loudspeakers and public address systems may not be used, according to rule five of the Noise Pollution Regulation and Control Rules. The court also questioned how pubs could be permitted in residential areas and close to schools and colleges under the Excise Rules, which also state that loudspeakers can only be used in pubs and the city until 10 p.m.
Additionally, the court ruled that after 10 p.m., only alcohol may be served in bars. In addition to the loud music, the complaints claimed that the pubs are unsafe because inebriated people frequently cause a commotion throughout the city, particularly in residential areas. The Commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda have received notices from the court regarding the matter.
