The country has experienced tremendous business and economic growth as a result of the rise in the number of female entrepreneurs. By creating jobs in the nation, influencing demographic changes, and motivating the subsequent generation of female founders, women-owned businesses are playing a significant role in society.
Ms. Piyali De, who has been tirelessly working on the impending improvements, is the subject of our talk today.
In India, the name Kalinga Gases Pvt. Limited is well-known for producing and distributing high-quality liquefied CO2, oxygen, dry ice, pet preforms, and bottles. In 1995, Ms. Piyali De founded Kalinga Gases Pvt. Ltd. to produce industrial carbon dioxide gas and dry ice in the most affordable way possible. Since then, the company has gained a reputation for manufacturing, wholesaling, and supplying a variety of specialty industrial products like industrial carbon dioxide gas, dry ice, and pet preforms as well as repairing cylinder valves, hydraulic testing, and painting cylinders in India. To expand, the firm opened a trading warehouse for liquefied CO2 gas in Rourkela in 2005. In 2008, it started selling at its refilling facility in Kolkata as a further step. Our product line is renowned for its clean and precise composition, little upkeep needs, and affordable costs.
To broaden its product offering, the business entered the production of PET Preforms in 2009. This product was chosen following the company’s mission and vision to meet the packaging demands of Eastern India by offering high-quality preforms at reasonable costs. We were able to meet all of the segment needs of the packaged drinking water makers in the state thanks to the addition of another plant in 2011 to expand the product line. With the selling of preforms in 2013, the activities of the Kolkata unit increased. Bottle manufacturing began as forwarding integration in 2018. The replenishment of industrial and medical oxygen began in Kolkata in 2021.
They have a vast infrastructure with all the modern tools necessary to ensure that a huge number of goods are produced and traded within the allotted period. To ensure safety and little waste, their team of professionals sees to it that all the gases are supplied in tamper- and leak-proof cylinders. They produce and supply superior quality industrial CO2 gas and dry ice for a variety of applications in metal, manufacturing, construction, chemical, pharmaceutical, petroleum, rubber & plastics, food & beverage, and other industries.
Being entrepreneurs, De’s father, set them on a path of unity for both the sisters. “The world was very different then.” I’m glad to report that since I last checked in 25 years ago, things have improved. Since there weren’t many female entrepreneurs at the time, things were difficult when I first started. Therefore, it wasn’t all that difficult before or even after I entered. Although the duties are the same for both men and women, they are different in their ways. Contents, Ms. De.
Ms. De has a very clear vision for what Kalinga Gases will become in the future. Her main goal has always been to diversify and grow. Ms. De is very appreciative of the staff she has had by her for a long time. The foundation could collapse without a strong team. In addition, she notices some individuals coming and going, which she interprets as a phase of the workplace. Due to the nature of her work, she may be both tough and relaxed back at times.
There are a lot of new players on the field, and I say go for it because the time is right and you can do it without a doubt. It may not happen right away, but with time and hard work, everything will eventually fall into place. However, if you don’t attempt, you won’t know your worth or your level of success. Many people, including me, found the recent Women’s Business Mela to be an eye-opener. For women and business owners to recognize their potential and the respect they have earned through their job, in my opinion, is a positive move.
