Closer home in Odisha, IFFCO won glowing praise from Subroto Bagchi, Odisha government’s Chief Spokesperson for COVID combat efforts. Which has galvanized to the rest of Corporate houses to come forward to counter COVID along with the State Govt?
As Interview Times caught up with Mr.K.J.Patel (Unit Head, Paradeep Unit), Its been possible to explore the veracity of the successful functioning of IFFCO during the COVID under Mr Patel leadership.
He strongly believes IFFCO is itself a big joint family built by the association of numbers of like-minded common farmers. Where humanity overrides the technocratic appliances although it is run by some professional Managers and Engineers at the forefront.
From the day, the State Govt. called for the need of shutdown way months back we first reached out them at their doorstep to put forward our much-needed support in terms of providing some lakhs of masks for containing community transmissions.
It was a great experience and learning to work with the very responsible State Govt. where all the staffs from bureaucrats to supportive staffs have been so much enthusiastic in coordinating the works in unusual circumstances.
Echoing “charity begins from home” and making a sense of it, voluntarily each employee of IFFCO donated one day salary for feeding few hundreds of our own daily workers as well some poor sections of people in our periphery in our vicinity with maintaining all social distances Mr Patel reveals.
Most interestingly, He opined IFFCO’s own “Jyoti Ladies Club” run by all wife’s of our staffs came out in one commitment in this fight against COVID to feed hundreds of ordinary poor citizens for continuous 15 days on of their own ways. That was really an inspiration for society as a whole.
He also shared, The Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertiliser Mr DV Sadananda Gowda had complimented IFFCO for its contribution of Rs 25 crore to PM CARES.
Quoting to Honourable Minister “I am overwhelmed, and would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Managing Director, management, employees and shareholders of IFFCO for this act of selflessness. This will be extremely helpful in strengthening our collective resolve to defeat the pandemic.”
Our CEO, IFFCO Managing Director & CEO, of the company, Dr.U.S Awasthi who happens to be our “father figure” in a sense of guiding us like his own children beyond professionalism. Mr Awasthi has also thanked Mr Gowda for his encouraging words.
Mr Awasthi echoes that “IFFCO stands with the nation in its fight against COVID-19. We are trying to break the chain of transmission by doing our best to shield the farmer and rural India from this pandemic.”
The Ministry had said that Fertilizer companies are already working with full capacity to supply adequate quantity of fertilizers to the farming community for the upcoming Kharif season.
In the end, Mr.Patel also informed with all aplomb that in the last 2019-20 FY IFFCO has surpassed all previous records of productions that went highest ever 19.3 lakh Tonne of Fertiliser from this world-class Fertiliser plant.
