Indonesia honored Late Biju Patnaik by naming a room/lounge in his name at the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi. The honor was in his name in recognition of late Patnaik’s contribution to the freedom movement of the country.
Late Biju Patnaik has contributed immensely to the welfare and freedom of our country. The room in the embassy which is themed on Biju Patnaik will be used as a lounge for the guests and as a conference room for its employees where it features many pictures and memorabilia of the late Patnaik.
By dedicating the room to the legendary leader, Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro, the Indonesian ambassador at New Delhi stated that Odisha’s contribution to Indonesia’s Independence was tremendous. “India, especially Odisha’s contributions to Indonesia’s Independence was immense. Independence is a sacred thing for us, it is very important for our citizens. So as a nation, we remain grateful to those who contributed to realizing this dream of ours. This is the least we can do to honor the braveheart who made significant contributions to our cause. And I hope, it will do justice to his memory.”

Prem Patnaik, who is the elder son of Biju Patnaik, and both the grandson- Arun Patnaik and Ravi Kant, Resident Commissioner of Odisha at New Delhi were all presented during the function. Prem Patnaik stated that his father always treated Indonesia as his second home and the most honorable moment for him was when he was acknowledged with the title ‘Bhoomiputra’ by the Indonesian Government. Prem Patnaik also presented a picture to the embassy that featured President Sukarno sitting in the airplane with his signature Peci Hat.

As per the reports, the room in the Embassy features many pictures and memorabilia of Biju Patnaik as a renowned fighter pilot and nationalist which also include the ones from the Indonesian Air Force who dedicated their lives to the movement. Bali Yatra representing classical ‘Sadhaba Puas’ setting off for Java and Sumatra islands in Indonesia persists a significant display of the room. The picture is captioned Kalinga-Bali Yatra, Tryst With History On High Seas.

The Indonesian embassy shared via Twitter-, “Biju Patnaik is one of the very few. To keep his name, Amb @suryodipuro designated a room bearing his name, #BijuPatnaikRoom. Inaugurated today by cutting the Tumpeng Rice, with the presence of Mr. Prem Patnaik, Mr. Arun Patnaik & Mr. Ravi Kant, Resident Comm. of Odisha, New Delhi.”
