In Conversation with Author Nilesh Mamgain

Rarely a person would be able to find multi talented personalities in the fast paced world. Such a personality in Author Nilesh Mamgain . He has written the book Pradhan Mantri . Let us know  more about him in this interview by Interview Times.

Q1) Tell us about the time when you felt inspired to set your foot in the writing field.

Ans : Not a specific time that I remember of. I have been intrigued by stories, very fond of reading stories since childhood. I believe everyone and everything in this world have a story to tell. A vase at your home in your living room have a story, when you bought it, why you bought it, how it landed in a specific corner of your living room and why. Then there is imagination that adds spices to it and there you have an interesting story. Now what good a story is if it is not told, by any means, write it, show it, draw it. I been an actor would like to show the story Pradhan Mantri on screen now that I have written it.

Q2) You are also an author. Tell us about how competitive the field of acting is and how are you balancing both the professions, acting and writing ?

Ans : Observation and Imagination are two primary tools of an actor, and as a writer too both of these are important, as I have told you in the previous answer. Actor are the story tellers. So acting and writing actually compliment each other. Infact writing helps to understand the building of a character, acting helps the story in behaviour of that character. I find both similar in process. The writer in me helps the actor with the character building and the actor helps the writer in the behaviour of that character at various points in story.

Q3) You have written the book Pradhamantri . Where did you get the inspiration of the book. Tell us more about the book and also attach the link for purchase .

Ans : In 2018, we were approaching the general elections. A notorious idea came to my mind. I found it very interesting, then started thinking how can it happen or for that matter can it happen. The seed was sown.I used to play chess on my laptop, many a time I or the computer turns one of the pawn into Queen, from that generated the idea, question that a pawn may become the Queen but then the real master is the player. Thus came the story that I developed on that idea. Further I am a fan of “Game of Thrones”. I was amazed, mesmerized by the magnitude of it.That inspired me to make Pradhan Mantri big, not as big as Game of Thrones. Games of Thrones also gave me the courage to write with conviction and believe in the story without thinking of how it will be received by the readers and the audience.In 2018, I wrote only 90 page of it,  was just and idea.It was only in 2021, I rewrote it, this time with more characters and more twists. Interestingly I wrote the second season before the first. Here I would like to inform that I wrote the script for Web Series for two seasons and then decided to get the first one to be publish as book.

‘Pradhan Mantri’ is a conspiracy to assassinate the sitting Prime Minister to grab the power and the post. There are different players with common aspiration to become the Prime minister. Then there is a bigger conspiracy at work, Masters who decides who will become the Prime minister.  The whole point is who decides who will be the Prime Minister, us, the voters or there are some powerful, bigger players who decide the Prime Minister, the one who serves them. That’s what the book is all about. It is the first of the five book series. Therefore lots to twist and turns are there, more question raised then answered in this, the first one.

Q4)What are the challenges you have encountered in the process of writing from the first stage of ideating to the last stage of publishing.

Ans : I won’t call them  challenges rather there were inhibitions. There are three female characters in my book. One seems weak, one is a negative character and then there is Sasha the mother of all evil. I have my inhibition over showing women in such a bad light. There were days when I was writing and I thought his is the limit I shouldn’t go any further in portraying  a woman like that but then I decided to go with the flow  and let the story take me where it goes. I’m glad that I did that anyhow these characters show how powerful and smart women are then men and that is what I always believed.

Q5) What would be the advice you would want to give to the young writers of today ?

Ans : I myself am a young writer since Pradhan Mantri is my first book. Neither do I think I am proficient enough to advice anyone, nor do I like to give one. It may be some words of encouragement, that is to be true to your story and have faith in yourself.
