Interview Times had an opportunity to interview Mr Sumit Garg, the Managing Director and co-founder of Luxury ride through questionnaire, Luxury Ride is a place where one can purchase pre-owned luxury cars. Sumit hails from Karnal and holds a civil engineering degree from RVCE engineering college. Before Luxury ride which Sumit co-founded in 2015 he had founded KoiBhiCar.com during 2012, just after his college which was a online platform. Today Luxury Ride has its Showroom outlets in seven cities across the country. Below are the responses to The Interview Times Questionnaires :-
Q1- What motivated you to co-found Luxury Ride?
Answer: Luxury cars have always fascinated people of all types of generations. I have been passionate about cars from my school days and the passion persistent through my engineering college days. In 2012 I Co-founded KoiBhiCar.com, an online marketplace for pre-owned luxury cars. Later I realised that the model needed pivoting and also the need for a more appropriate brand name for a venture dealing with pre- owned luxury cars.First showroom was in Delhi and a lot of struggle was faced as there were no cars in the showroom. This was the time when I requested my mentor and seed investor to provide cars to showcase in the showroom. However, the hard work, persistence and innate love for cars, turned things around to the second, flagship outlet at my home town of Karnal, which till date is India’s largest single location showroom for pre-owned luxury cars, spread across 4-floors of a building with a capacity to display 50+cars, in a 1-acre spread. Luxury Ride today has 7 such showrooms primarily in North India; New Delhi, Gurugram, Karnal, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Dehradun. We have 4000+ loyal customers, have sold in all 1000+ cars and serviced over 10,000+. In 2015, I got another shot, when serial angel investor Dhianu Das along with a few HNIs came forward to invest in Luxury Ride. For me this is just the beginning as I have set my eyes clearly on making Luxury Ride the Indian luxury car market leader.
Q2- How many hours do you work and how do you manage your family time?
Answer : On an average, I work for 9-10 hours per day, with some days being longer as I oversee various departments and the prime focus is exponential expansion of Luxury Ride across India. I am also highly involved in the day-to-day functioning of the company in order to get the DNA right which can support the exponential business growth and create a strong foundation. Having said that, I always try to maintain a work life balance and end my day on a dinner table with my family. Being a passionate lover of cars, I prefer long vacations on special occasions, weekend day out and family get-togethers. 
Q3- Was becoming an entrepreneur always there in your bucket list?
Answer: I’ve always wanted to be a successful entrepreneur from the day when I realized my love for cars. That’s how gradually, I channelled my enthusiasm for vehicles into the automobile sector. The passion to do something different/ exciting, rough pathways, struggle, loss everything paid off because today I am the co-founder of Luxury Ride, India’s largest and fastest-growing multi-brand pre-owned luxury car retailer. Q4- What difficulties did you face and how did you manage them during setting-up the company?
Answer: It wasn’t an easy task, we had to deal with an unending number of issues. Getting funding for Luxury Ride was challenging at first, and as we grew, regulating manpower, strategizing things according to our objectives, and training the entire staff became difficult. Every area was challenging in one way or another. But, over time, we spent effort rectifying errors and properly removing items. Q5- What do you like to do in your leisure time?
Answer : In my spare time, I normally try to keep myself up to date by surfing on the internet. Being a car lover, I prefer to go on long drives, chill with friends and family. I also enjoy comedy and mythology films on occasion.
Q6- Any advice do you want to give to our readers who aspire to become entrepreneurs?
Answer: To become a successful entrepreneur one should have the passion, madness, emotional support and a road map. Though challenges always play a crucial role in the life of entrepreneurs, encourage yourself to never give up in the face of adversity and significant obstacles, trust in your hard work and simply tackle them head on. Plan and handle things appropriately and learn from your own and others’ failure.
Q7- According to you, what contributed to your success the most?
Answer: To be honest, I am fortunate to have the support of a large number of people in my life. Luxury Ride was born out of my passion, and it was made possible by my mentors, family, friends, and the most proactive members of my team. They have always been there for me in any situation and have made the greatest contribution to this accomplishment.
Q8- What are your future goals?
Answer: Luxury Ride currently operates in Delhi, Gurugram, Karnal, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Dehradun, and Ludhiana, with plans to build 50 new showrooms in the coming years. The main future goal is never to stop!
