India Receives First Emergency Covid Relief Supplies From US

For the treatment of Covid-19 patients from the USA, the first consignment of essential arrived in India which includes all the emergency medical supplies.

According to the official report, the emergency medical supplies which include hundreds of oxygen cylinders and regulators were provided for the treatment of the Covid-19 patients. Due to the rising cases in India, there was the storage of oxygen support and critical medicines to the serious Coronavirus patients and hundreds of hospitals across the country are struggling for beds and to provide medical oxygen to serious patients.

The report further elaborates that A C-5M Super Galaxy one of the US Force’s Largest strategic airlifts aircraft which flew in the medical equipment and other items in Delhi.

The US embassy in its official Twitter account quoted- “The first of several emergency COVID-19 relief shipments from the United States has arrived in India! Building on over 70 years of cooperation, the United States stands with India as we fight the COVID-19 pandemic together.”

The official report further elaborates that a second US military aircraft with more medical equipment and other materials is expected to land in Delhi.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted – “A strategic partnership of global significance! Our healthcare partnership can help effectively tackle the global pandemic. Deeply appreciate the gift of 423 oxygen cylinders with regulators and other medical supplies from the USA.”

Even more than 40 countries have committed to providing proper aid to India which includes Russia, France, Germany, Australia, Ireland, Belgium, Romania, Luxembourg, Singapore, Portugal, Sweden, New Zealand, Kuwait and Mauritius.

Russia has already delivered 20 tonnes of medical supplies — mainly comprising oxygen concentrators, ventilators and medicines – to India.

Even the Gulf countries are also providing supplies and the first shipment of 140 MT (metric tonnes) of liquid oxygen from the UAE is expected to land in the early hours of Friday. Bahrain is sending 40 MT of oxygen as a gift through Indian Navy ships that are already in the region. Kuwait has indicated assistance of 185 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen and related equipment.
