Projects Worth Rs 121 Cr Approved Under ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ In 24 Odisha Districts

Under the initiative of ‘Mo School Abhiyan’, Odisha approved projects worth Rs 121.26 crore in 24 districts at the 24th Executive Council meeting of ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ which was held on the chairmanship of Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary, School & Mass Education (S&ME) Department.

Due to the seriousness of the recent Covid situation in the state, the meeting was held in video conferencing mode and an official press release was released for further information.

As per the press release in the last month more than 36,000 alumni have joined the ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ and have also donated Rs 5.20 crore for the development of their respective schools. Alumni contributes around Rs 1.77 crore in Balasore, Rs 53.54 Lakh in Cuttack, Rs 36.33 Lakh In Bhadrak, Rs 33.18 lakh in Angul and Rs 18.54 lakh in Bargarh.

The press release further elaborates that financial aid of Rs 35.55 crore has been granted to ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ from various CSR funds for the development of government schools in Odisha. Around Rs 121.26 crore of projects have been approved by the executive council which includes double the matching grants by the State Government in addition to the funds.

For the fifth consecutive time, Balasore records the highest amount of donor contribution with an amount of Rs 1.77 crore. The press release also informs that as many as 5.6 Lakh alumni have been associated with the ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ while more than 33,000 schools in all districts of the state have joined the campaign.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also sanctioned Rs 10 Crore to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) towards Coronavirus management. Recently Bhubaneswar witness a huge surge in daily cases due to which CM sanctioned Rs 10 crore from the CMRF to BMC.

Under the State Food Security Scheme in Odisha, the beneficiaries will be getting an additional 5kg of rice in May and June each. The Odisha CM announced that the Odisha Government will bear the expenditure for this support to 12 Lakh beneficiaries and the decision has been taken by the state to support the underprivileged.
