India To Host The Global Media And Film Summit Next Year

The Global Media and film Summit will be held in India in the coming year. The event will also set up a specific pavilion at Cannes in 2022 as Cannes will celebrate its 75th years of celebration.

Prakash Javadekar, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, informed the announcement while addressing the CII Big Picture Summit through video conferencing. He also said that India has already generated communication technology and has a fantastic scope for the entertainment and media industry. He further informed that Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comic (AVGC) is a sunrise sector, and the experts are contributing endless support to the mainstream filmmakers worldwide.

For the first, the professionals have started doing more of their movies so that the graphics and animations in the Indian film industry will grow more.  The government is building a Centre of Excellence in cooperation with IIT Bombay where a course in AVGC will be provided, and it will be more enhanced with the changing format of the cinema.

Amit Khare, Secretary, Ministry of I&B, said that the media and entertainment industry has grown with time, and the pandemic has opened a pathway to new ventures like educational technologies and Indian gaming.

Even in 2020, India will be celebrating the 75th year of Independence, where the grand celebration will be held both in-country as well as outside. Amit Khare invited the industry, which will help to project India’s soft power through entertainment and media. Along with this, he also asked the Summit participants to the 51st IFFI.
