The Indian Air Force Day is celebrating its 88th Anniversary with the newly drafted Rafale fighter aircraft which will show all its features will be the highlight of this year’s celebration. Today’s celebration will showcase all the intrepidity and mainstream fighter jets on display with a parade ceremony held at the Air Force Station at Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad.
On 8th October this day is observed as the Indian Air Force Day to celebrate the accomplishments of the flying armed forces. On 8th October 1932, when the IAF was discovered, it became an essential part of all wars and missions. When as a part of the auxiliary air force of the British Empire it was formally established. But after Independence in 1947, it became a part of India and the Indian Air Force also helped the British Army during World War II. After the Independence, the name was ‘Royal Indian Air Force’ to which later the ‘Royal’ was officially removed.
Prime Minister congratulated to the Brave warriors of IAF- ” एयर फोर्स डे पर भारतीय वायुसेना के सभी वीर योद्धाओं को बहुत-बहुत बधाई। आप न सिर्फ देश के आसमान को सुरक्षित रखते हैं, बल्कि आपदा के समय मानवता की सेवा में भी अग्रणी भूमिका निभाते हैं। मां भारती की रक्षा के लिए आपका साहस, शौर्य और समर्पण हर किसी को प्रेरित करने वाला है।,” he twitted.
President Ram Nath Kovind also honoured the air warriors and the families of IAF as the country remains indebted to their hard work and contribution in securing the skies. He tweeted – On Air Force Day, we proudly honour our air warriors, veterans, and families of the Indian Air Force. The nation remains indebted to the contribution of the IAF in securing our skies and assisting civil authorities in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.”
Further tweeting, he said- “The ongoing process of modernisation with induction of Rafale, Apache and Chinook will transform the IAF into an even more formidable strategic force. Confident that in the years to come, the Indian Air Force will continue to maintain its high standards of commitment and competence”.
Even Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister also shared his greetings to the IAF- “My felicitations and best wishes to the air warriors and their families on the occasion of Air Force Day-2020. Eighty-eight years of dedication, sacrifice and excellence mark the journey of the IAF which is today a lethal and formidable force to reckon with” he twitted.
Amit Shah, the Minister of Home Affairs, twitted – Greetings on Indian Air Force day! From safeguarding our skies to assisting in all odds, our brave Air Force personnel have served the nation with utmost courage and determination. The Modi government is doing everything possible to keep our mighty air warriors roaring loud in the skies”.
UK Ambassador to India Ken Juster also congratulated IAF and stated – “ Defence cooperation is a cornerstone of the US-India relationship, as we work together to secure a free, open, and rules-bases Indo-pacific region”.
