Indo-American Bhavya Lal appointed acting chief of staff of NASA


Another Indian-American has got a major role in the United States. Bhavya Lal, of Indian descent, has been appointed acting chief of staff at NASA, US space agency. She has been in charge since yesterday. Bhavya Lal is a member of the NASA review team formed by newly elected US President Joe Biden. She is overseeing the work of the change in the agency under the Biden administration.

The U.S. space agency, NASA, said in a statement that Lal had special skills in engineering and space technology. She is also an active member of the Space Technology and Policy Society.

Bhavya Lal holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nuclear science, as well as a master’s degree in technology and policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She also holds a doctorate in public policy and public administration from George Washington University.

Prior to joining the STPI, Lal served as President of the C-STPSS LLC, a science and technology, policy research and consulting firm in Waltam, Massachusetts. Prior to that, she was the director of the Center for Science and Technology Policy Studies at Abbott Associates Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Bhavya joined NASA through a number of programs. She has been a member of NASA’s renowned program Innovative Advanced Concepts Program and the External Council of the NASA’s Technology, Innovation and Engineering Advisory Committee.
