Mr. Prasanth Agarwal is popularly known as the “Internet Man of Odisha” who offered internet services way back in 2009 when people were hardly engrossed in the Internet scheme of things. I’m Prashant Agrawal. And I am the co-founder director of wefe Technology Private Limited. We are an Odisha-based Internet player with a unified license from the Department of Telecom Government of India for the entire Odisha. Presently we are operating in Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack Berhampur, and Khordha industrial area we started this journey in 2009 and from last almost 14 years. We are in the Odisha market and we are associated with almost all the good brands operating in Odisha.
Could you please take us through of your entrepreneurial journey of Wefe internet and its unique product “giga fiber “
Giga Fiber is a concept of providing Internet speed in a Giga speed like more than 1000 Mbps of Internet speed to the household. So we introduced this Giga Fiber concept very first time in Odisha in the year 2016 or 2017. And this is connectivity in which a customer gets more than 1000 Mbps of Internet speed. It’s a very speedy Internet connection Giga Fiber.
How was the idea of launching wireless internet technology in the heart of Bhubaneswar ?
We started in Bhubaneshwar. This company is actually started by my brother. During his college days, he was in Bhubaneswar for his summer internship and training. So for the assignments, he usually visits cyber cafes and he needs a reliable connection. But in the cyber café, he was not getting a proper internet speed. So he discussed with the cyber cafe owners and they said this is the only option we have and this is the best we can give. So at that time, he realized that there is a huge potential in the market. There is a huge requirement for a good internet provider. So he decided to start an internet company in Bhubaneshwar. So after completing college, he started this internet provider business in 2009 in a small area of Bhubaneswar. Chandrashekhar.
The tragic cyclone in 2019 has dismantled Odisha severely and especially your sector . How did you get over all the damages caused by post cyclone to make a smooth flow of your company ?
3 May 2019 is actually a black day for wefe and also for the Odisha people. Also on that day also our network was damaged very badly, our lots of cables were damaged, lots of BTS were damaged, even customer and equipment were missing because of a heavy vent that equipment was not there and it was actually a very difficult situation for us to re-establish ourself and restart the infra. But I like to tell you that Wefe was the first internet provider who started restoring internet services in the city. On the fourth day, we started this operation in a few areas Saheed Nagar was started on the fourth day of that after Fani and even at that time the electricity was not properly restored. It was really a very big challenge for us. But we have done it very well and we have restored our customers and restarted and back with the bank and given our services, re-established our services and it was really difficult but it was really fun to get back.
Over the years Wefe internet brand has been a home made brand in Odisha . so basically What are the services offered by Wefe?
If we talk about any company operating in Bhubaneshwar, We take care of our customers and there are lots of benefits to taking a Wefe connection.
