The election commission of India has denied the ‘star campaigner’ status of congress pioneer and former MP CM Kamal Nath for consistently disregarding the model code of conduct during his canvassing for the by-election to 28 seats in the state.
The Commission had requested that Kamal Nath reacts to rehashed cases of him abusing the model code. His reaction was discovered to be “unsuitable”, following which the survey body repudiated his ‘star campaigner’ status.
By-election to 28 seats in Madhya Pradesh are to be held on November 3.
“If any campaign is done by Kamal Nath from now onwards, the entire expenditure will be borne by the candidate in whose constituency the campaign is being undertaken,” the Election Commission said.
