New Delhi: The INDIA bloc will hold a “maha rally” at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on March 31 ,AAP leader Gopal Rai said on Sunday. The announcement of the rally comes Amid the opposition parties vs prime minister Narendra modi government’s faceoff over the arrest of Delhi cm Kejriwal by ED in the excise policy case.
“Democracy and the country are in danger. All the INDIA-bloc parties will hold this ‘maha rally’ to safeguard the country’s interests and democracy,” AAP leader Gopal Rai said. On Friday, several leaders of the India bloc the met the Election commission to register their protest against Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest and the alleged targeting of opposition leaders ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
“By adopting dictatorship and ending democracy in the country, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested. There is anger in every person who loves and respects the Constitution and democracy. One by one, PM Modi is misusing the agencies to file fake cases against every opposition leader,” the AAP leader added. Congress Delhi Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely also said, “March 31 ‘maha rally’ will not be ‘political’ but a call to save the country’s democracy and raise voice against Centre.” During the meeting, INDIA bloc leaders submitted a memorandum to the poll panel which featured a list of recent instances of central agencies targeting opposition parties and alleged an absence of a “level playing field” for the opposition.
