Leaving The Legacies Of Industrial Endurance, Tara Ranjan Patnaik

The most successful entrepreneur, Tara Ranjan Patnaik, claims himself as a Businessman by Accident has been inked as a lister business house ‘Falcon Marine Export Private Limited’ and an inspiration to many others.

Coming from a family of lawyers who wanted their son to continue his ancestral profession but life was unexpected and took a completely different path. Patnaik was born on 14th March 1953 at the Anandapur in Keonjhar, Odisha. He was the fourth out of the eight siblings and was grown up in a middle-class background. His father, Late Padmanava Patnaik, who was a civil lawyer, managed the whole household’s livelihood.

In 1954 he went to a government school in Anandapur and then studied science at Bhadrak college in 1969, where he lived in a hostel in Bhadrak. But he left it after a year as he was disturbed by frequent strikes and student agitations in the college. Later he returned to Keonjhar and continued his studies but then quit again as he lost his interest completely in subjects. In 1972, he shifted to the arts stream and got admission in Anandapur College, Keonjhar, from where he finished his graduation.

Patnaik’s first venture with fishing trawlers was a complete failure, but he didn’t give up on his abilities to stand up to a vast business empire. But then, in 1985, he established ‘Falcon Marine Export Private Limited’ where slowly the company became India’s largest marine products exporter. ‘Falcon’ name was given because of his love for dreaming about souring in the sky and touching sky success.

With more and more buyers of the seafood in Odisha, ‘Falcon Marine Export Private Limited’ has set a higher benchmark for hiring thousands of people as their employees. Patnaik Steels and Alloys Limited and Falcon Real Estate Pvt Ltd are two different companies that have successfully done business with crores of annual turnovers.

Due to his tremendous success in the business Patnaik was awarded for the – Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) for being India’s highest value exporter for the past couple of years. Within a short span of time, he builds up his marine empire to a higher level were looking back for Patnaik was impossible.

Patnaik always believed in working with honesty and dedication, and with each passing time, he is still working hard to take his business to one more level to success.
