Mangalabag Police Freeze 80 FD Accounts Of Fake Tantrik Maulana Kaifi Khan

Around 80 FD accounts belonging to phony tantrik Maulana Kaifi Khan have been found and blocked by Mangalabag police in Cuttack city. “Today marks the third day that we have had him under remand. We discovered and froze his around 80 fixed deposits with Sahara that have matured and are worth Rs 16.34 lakh throughout the course of the past two days of our interrogation. His other fixed deposit accounts and three recurring deposit accounts have also been found, according to Sudhansu Bhushan Jena, IIC Mangalabag police station, who briefed media today.

In Salipur-Paga’s Pira Bazaar, Jena disclosed that the police had also discovered a parcel of property in his name. We found a piece of property (land) that belongs to him in the Pira Bazaar neighborhood of Salipur-Paga. He said that his father left the property to him. We are checking the information. His motorbike, Bullet, and three vehicles—Verna, Breeza, and Wagon-R—had already been taken by us. Apart from that, we have seized a scooter, an RX-5, and a Wagon-R automobile, Jena added.

According to the IIC, 3–4 of Khan’s cronies will be detained shortly. He said that Khan had spent between Rs. 13 and Rs. 14 lakh on plane travel and had led an opulent life. According to Jena, Khan said that his salary of Rs 6000–7000 per month as a maulana in a mosque was insufficient to support his family—hiring a car for his wife and parents, taking them on trips, etc.—and that’s why he started con artists to get additional cash.

Khan was recently detained as a result of a complaint made by a lady who claimed that Khan conned her out of Rs 62 lakh under the guise of warding off evil spirits and unearthing hidden wealth from her home.
