The new director of the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Bhubaneswar, is Manorama Mohanty, the director of the meteorological department in Ahmedabad. She is going to replace HR Biswas, who was moved to RMC, Kolkata. She was promoted to S grade with the new appointment. The Ministry of Earth Science has released a notification in this regard.
Following her post-graduation in Physics from Utkal University, Mohanty joined the weather forecasting department. Her contribution to the accurate forecasting of numerous disasters, particularly the tropical cyclones that affected Gujarat in the Arabian Sea, was substantial. She received praise for her precise forecast of the path of the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm Tauktae, which made landfall in Gujarat in 2021.
