MCL Becomes India’s First Company To Achieve 200 MT Coal Production

In the coal industry, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has set a new standard by being the first business in India to produce 200 million tonne (MT) of coal in a financial year. On Saturday night, MCL, which operates mining activities in the Odisha districts of Angul, Jharsuguda, and Sundergarh, celebrated reaching the 200 MT milestone.

The Chairman and Managing Director of MCL, Uday Anant Kaole, complimented each and every employee as well as the affiliated agencies. “It is with great pleasure that I announce this remarkable milestone of 200 million tonnes of coal produced. This is more than just a figure; it’s a representation of our dedication, diligence, and fortitude,” the CMD stated, urging Team MCL to keep up the good work in securing an adequate supply of coal to meet the nation’s energy needs.

Earlier, MCL had crossed the 100 MT mark in coal production in the financial year 2009-10, while the 150 MT mark was crossed in the financial year 2021-22 when the company recorded over 168 MT of coal production. 200 MT has come within two years.
