On June 12, 2024, Odisha witnessed a significant turning point with the inauguration of Ashmita Uday, marking a new chapter in its political landscape. The state welcomed Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, a leader emerging from humble beginnings, who took the oath to serve the people of Odisha. This moment signified the end of a 24-year governance by the BJD under Naveen Patnaik and the rise of the BJP, fulfilling long-held aspirations for change.
Achievements in the First 100 Days
As we reflect on the first 100 days of the Mohan government, the efforts and developments initiated by Chief Minister Majhi are commendable. His administration has been characterized by a commitment to ethical governance and responsiveness to the needs of the populace. Notably, the Chief Minister has reinstated the Chief Minister’s Grievance Chamber, a platform that had been neglected for years. Unlike his predecessor, Majhi personally engages with citizens to address their concerns, embodying the spirit of a people-oriented government.
Key Initiatives
One of the flagship initiatives is the Subhadra Yojana, which promises ₹50,000 to every woman in the state over a five-year period, with the first installment of ₹5,000 already distributed. This program aims to empower women and promote self-employment.
In response to longstanding demands, the Mohan government swiftly reopened the four temple gates and the Ratnabhandar, signifying a commitment to cultural heritage. A ₹500 crore corpus fund has also been established for temple management, alongside a ₹2,000 crore fund dedicated to promoting Odia Asmita.
The government’s focus on agriculture is evident through the CM Kisan Yojana, which has already benefited 46 lakh farmers, providing them with ₹2,000 each. Additionally, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for rice has been increased to ₹31,000, set to take effect in the upcoming Dhankina.
Social welfare initiatives have also been prioritized, with plans for a monthly pension of ₹3,500 for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities, and an annual payment of ₹5,000 for tribal students to reduce dropout rates.
Celebrating Progress
From now until September 22, the BJP government is celebrating its 100-day achievements across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s commitment to progress is evident, and the public is hopeful for continued positive change.
As Odisha embraces this new era under the Mohan government, the focus remains on ethical governance, community engagement, and sustainable development. With a strong foundation laid in these first 100 days, there is optimism for a brighter future for the people of Odisha.
