Mega infra boost for Odisha! A new football stadium, flyover and railway stations to come up soon

World-class sports stadiums can be found all over Odisha, including the Barabati Cricket Stadium in Cuttack and the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. A new football stadium in Cuttack will be built in the eastern state, adding more fuel to the fire of hatred. The construction of a football stadium with a flyover and the renovation of railway stations in the Cuttack area were announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The Union Minister approved Rs 50 lakh for a football stadium in the Panchgaon neighborhood of Cuttack and took part in a football game in Tigiria Block.

“Rs 50 lakh have been sanctioned to develop the football stadium in Panchgaon. A flyover has also been sanctioned in Ghantikhal. It has also been decided that the passenger amenities at Rajathgarh and Ghantikhal railway stations would be improved,” media reports quoted Vaishnaw as saying.

Notably, from June 9 to June 18, last year, Odisha played host to the esteemed Hero Intercontinental Cup, an international football competition. India hosted the four-nation football competition at the Kalinga Sports Complex in Bhubaneswar. Prior to the Intercontinental Cup in May of last year, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik opened three football training facilities in Bhubaneswar. These were Capital Arena Football, Bhubaneswar Football Academy, and Odisha Football Academy.

These Rs 90 crore establishments feature six FIFA-certified football fields—five natural and one synthetic—as well as LED floodlights, a players’ changing area, a gallery, a gym, a coach room, and other facilities.
