The concept of IPL took the cricket aficionados across the country by the storm. Viewers were glued to the abridged version of the game. But one hardly imagined that the format could take off in Odisha in élan. Thanks to the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), we have got our homegrown incarnate of the IPL.
The league is being hosted by OCA in association with TCM, a major sports management company of India. The TCM has been a part and parcel of major BCCI events and the they have been also involved in major events like IPL,ISL, KHELO INDIA etc, OCA President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty informed.
The MGM Company has obtained the title sponsorship for this event. This event is being organized in accordance with government permission, and a Bio Secure Bubble has been created. All the players, Officials have gone through the RT-PCR test and only COVID-19 Negative will be allowed to participate in this event. OCA has recently conducted the Senior Men inter-district T-20 League, in which 37 affiliated units participated. From this the Senior Men Selection Committee of OCA has scouted 93 best players for MGM Odisha T-20 Cricket League and have been divided into six teams. Each team have two support staffs one coach and one manager.

All the teams will play matches in double leg basis, as such there will be 30 matches and the top four position holders will qualify to the Semi Final Stage. The top most position holder of this league will play against the third topmost position holder of the league in 1st Semi Final and the second top most position holder will play against the fourth top most position holder of the league in the second semifinal match and the winner of the two Semi Final Matches will play in the Final Match and the Final Match has been scheduled on 13th January 2020. All the matches will be played without any spectator.
Eleven umpires and 8 Scorers have been appointed for conducting this prestigious event. All the matches will be live streamed in an APP “FAN CODE”. As Odisha Cricket is moving in progressive path this event will certainly help in creating a robust cricketing system in our state, according to OCA President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty and Secretary Sanjay Behera.
